Ryan Theriault
Equine Specialist Practitioner - TA Method Trainer

Ryan has always had a passion for horses since a young age where he began riding and working with horses. He quickly developed skills and soon became a certified with multiple levels of riding. Ryan also knew the influence horses had on the mental wellbeing of individuals. This started the planning of a centre which partnered horses and mental health together.

As the founder of Tranquil Acres Inc (established in 2011), Ryan has grown and developed programming for a wide range of individuals affected with mental health. Ryan is also the co-founder of Heroes Equine Learning Program (H.E.L.P.) which provides short term residential programming for First Responders, Military members, and their families affected with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Ryan has a keen interest in helping this population specifically as he has his own experience in law enforcement as a past auxiliary member of the RCMP in his home province of Nova Scotia.

Ryan’s passion is combining his love and knowledge of horses with mental health. He has co-developed the TA Method and is currently serving as a practitioner and trainer for the method. Ryan provides a safe and effective learning environment for those who wish to partner with horses and provide a much needed support to those who are affected with mental health.

Tranquil Acres - Kyle Bellehumeur_edited

Kyle’s passion for horses began with his journey with Tranquil Acres. After immersing himself into the space, he knew there was a strong influence on the mental health and wellbeing of individuals when partnered with horses. He has been a team member, manager, and equine specialist of Tranquil Acres since 2013 and has been a key player in the development of programming for the facility.

In 2014, Kyle co-founded the Heroes Equine Learning Program (H.E.L.P.) organization which provides short term residential programming for First Responders, Military members, and their families affected with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. He has also helped advise the organization on clinical aspects of the administration of the organization.

Kyle holds a Bachelor of Science (with focus on chemistry and biochemistry) from the University of Ottawa and completed his Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University in 2019. He has since satisfied the requirements to hold the title of Registered Psychotherapist and is a member in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. Kyle is also completing the requirements for Canadian Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.

Providing in-office and equine assisted psychotherapy is Kyle’s niche. He has since co-developed the TA Method and is the Mental Health Practitioner trainer in this approach to equine assisted psychotherapy. Kyle is always excited to share knowledge with others regarding such a powerful method to helping those affected with mental health.
